School to School Support

The CTSA is committed to collaborative school improvement, achieved by mutual support within and across the Partnership.  The heartbeat of the CTSA is school collaboration and improvement through working together, and everything we do has this in mind.

In order to foster shared practice across local schools, we run Joint CPD Weeks twice a year where member schools open their doors for twilight sessions in which they share an aspect of their own practice with colleagues.

Examples of recent sessions include:

Whole Class Reading: Informed by research:  we shared a research-informed approach to whole class reading, built on principles of developing reading fluency, vocabulary acquisition, and a love of reading. No marking? No problem.

Helicopter Stories: Early Storytelling and Writing – promoting engagement. The session focused on ways to promote children’s engagement with writing in Reception and Year 1.

Teachmate AI: How to safely save time using AI.

Building an Oracy Curriculum (How to Begin…):  This session focused on what underpins an effective oracy curriculum and explore ideas around how to begin to build this in line with your current strengths. The session included an overview of exploratory talk, presentational talk and effective listening.

Supporting Deaf Pupils in a Mainstream Classroom: Provided mainstream classroom teachers with some insight into how to plan for and adapt for deaf children in your classroom.

Video Toolkits:  How to use simple video toolkits to support independent learning in the classroom.
